The Senior Director, Government Relations for the U.S. East region will lead a team of nine government relations professionals along the East Coast.  You will drive the team’s market expansion and government relations strategy for the U.S. East region. As a critical people manager on the team, you will be setting goals, developing team members, and ensuring accountability for results.  You will be a strategist and problem solver, and work directly with city leaders to enter, expand and improve markets. A heavily outward facing and highly strategic role, you will join a team of visionary leaders seeking to quickly expand Lime's reach across the country.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of nine government relations professions in the U.S. East region
• Set strategy for achieving market entry, expansion and stabilization goals
• Collaborate with team members to set individual goals, devise plans to achieve those goals, and hold team members accountable for achieving results
• Be a problem-solver for addressing issues that arise in markets where Lime operates or hopes to operate
• Analyze the regulatory environment in particular markets and drive strategy to enter markets, achieve regulatory compliance, or stabilize markets
• Establish relationships with local government leaders and regulatory agencies, meeting with them on a regular basis to craft positive relationships that help to establish trust, mitigate potential obstacles, and convey the company's priorities and strategies
• Partner with organizations, educational institutions and similar groups to align Lime's social mission in transportation, health, and the environment to improve community outreach initiatives
• Manage company’s work with strategic advisers and local government relations consultants in your region
• Serve as a company spokesperson and ambassador
• Location: New York, NY or Washington D.C.

About You

• 10+ years experience in government affairs, campaigns, and/or business development in a government-related environment
• Experience leading a team
• A campaigner: Experience developing multi-dimensional advocacy campaigns to achieve a public policy goal
• Amazing sales skills: Excellent communication abilities and the ability to speak in public
• Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
• An aptitude for finding strategic wins, even when faced with initial resistance
• Government affairs know-how. Experience leading or working at a high level in local or regional government arenas, particularly city government
• Pure hustle: We are a startup, which means not everything will go according to plan. You are an energetic person who is not afraid of getting into the details
• Focus on executing: Being on the front edge of our growth strategy means you are doing a million things at once. You can prioritize the highest impact projects and execute well while maintaining long-term strategic focus
• An analytical and strategic mindset: You can quickly discern the cost-benefit analysis of your time, the company’s resources, and drive the business toward high-impact initiatives and efficient growth
• Experience in transportation, urban planning, mobility or sustainability a plus
• Available for travel
• Bachelor's degree
